Jeeps (big and small)

The first vehicles called "Jeep" were the light military utility vehicles that were used in WWII. There are many stories about the origin of the "Jeep" name, but it all comes down to the fact that the durable, dependable, and lovable 4x4 utility vehicles were dubbed "Jeep" by the soldiers themselves.

After the war, the military Jeeps were pressed into service by the citizens of many countries (many of them former soldiers). Because of this, "Civilian Jeep" models were created for everything from agriculture and delivery to just plain fun.

While the little Jeeps have always been useful and very popular, Jeep experimented with several larger vehicles, such as the Jeepster.

In the early 1960s, they created some of their most useful products - the full size Jeep Wagoneer, and the Jeep "J" pickup.

The Wagoneers have always combined the sturdiness and sure traction of a Jeep with the load carrying ability and comfort of a family station wagon. This vehicle lasted for almost 30 years, and would have lasted longer if it had not been killed by government regulations and financial considerations.

The "J" pickup has many of the advantages of the Wagoneer combined with the load carrying ability of a pickup truck.
