| These were thought to be an early way
to gather saints to accomplish "good works".
The doorways offered a quick way to qualify potential
"saints" in areas where their population
density was low. An inital protype of this classic
attractant tool may have been erected in 1828 in Great
Britain. This structure was
originally fitted with decorative gates that made it much
more like a ture doorway. However, while being relocated
later in the century these gates where damaged and not
reinstalled. So today it may not have the attractive
properties it possessed when first erected. This also may
explain why current gatherings here have a greater
diversity of types and are not just only "saints or
potential saints".
One aspect that does affiim the
original intent as a "Gathering Doorway" is
that today the locations' name is "Speakers
Corner". We know for a fact that any unofficial or
official gathering of 'saints" involves great
amounts of sound. In fact, if you want to affrim the
validity of a suspected "Gathering Doorway"
just listen.....You'll know!
An other example of this form of an
early "Gathering Doorway" is though to be found
in Paris. Also there are natural forms of these doorways
in found in southern Utah. This may explain the the areas
attaction to early migrations of "saints" to
this territory.
We believe that today that doorways
being built are of much smaller sizes. This may be puerly
economic (you can build many small ones for the cost of 1
big one). To test this theory we intend to select a
remote location in a desert or deep forest and build
"Gathering Doorways" of various sizes and see
which has the greater attractant power. And if there is a
cost effectiness in volume gathering as oposed to
singular larger gatherings.
This will be a very complex and
expensive test, because it will require keeping the
locations secret from all registered or non-registered
saints. Today, speedy electronic communications (cell
phones, the web, etc) may make a contolled test
impossible.
Some other suggested areas of
investigation in addtion to Size are: Shape, Color,
Materials of Construction, Presence (or non-presence) of
Doors, Altitude of Installation and Compass Orientation.
We are sure that there are many other aspects in the
discipline of "Gathering Doorways" that offer
good possibilites for professional or amature
investigation.
